Obituary for Lynn Marie Cole

Lynn Marie Cole
Lynn Marie Cole, 51, of Ludington, peacefully passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.

Lynn was born on March 24, 1965 in Ludington, daughter of Jerome and Katherine (Ozdych) Nickelson Jr. Her kind heart and open-door policy gave her the opportunity to build a special bond with everyone she met. She never had a mean thing to say about anyone and would give everything she had to help others. Lynn enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. She spent her time crocheting blankets for the kids in her life, extra-long scarves, and hats big enough for two!

Lynn’s energetic storytelling and infectious laugh will be missed by those who survive her: her son, Richard (Regina Giles) Cole; grandchildren, Faith, Marisa, and Richard Jr.; step children, Marie and Ron Cole; parents, Jerome and Katherine Nickelson; sisters, Lori (Wesley) Smeltzer, Michelle (Ross) Dirkse, and Marla (Kevin) Sanders; and brothers, Jerome (Marnie) Nickelson, Mark Nickelson and many nieces and nephews.

Lynn is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond C. Cole; grandparents, John and Mary Ozdych, and Jerome and Loraine Nickelson; nieces, Keana Smeltzer, Ashley Dirkse and Amanda Dirkse; nephew, Robert Dirkse; brother-in-law, Kenneth Hawke.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Simon Catholic Church in Ludington, with visitation starting at 10 a.m. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Vigil at 7:30 p.m., also at St. Simon Catholic Church. She will be laid to rest in the spring at Summit Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to JDRF Diabetes Foundation or CURE Epilepsy.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Oak Grove Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Ludington.
