Obituary for Patricia Rose Hoover

Patricia Rose Hoover
Patricia Rose Hoover, 82, of Ludington, Michigan, danced her way into Heaven on Monday, October 10th at Lakeside Vista in Holland, MI after a brief fight to overcome a hip surgery. Patricia 'Pat' or 'Patty Rose' was born May 4, 1934 in Ludington to Bernard Rotta and Velma Phillips Rotta. Pat was preceded in death by her husband Hilary Thomas Koslow and 2nd husband Harland Hoover. Also by her parents, Velma and Bernard Sr., brothers; Robert James Rotta( Clara) Russell Richard Rotta (Delores) and Bernard Frederick Rotta (JoAnn), as well as sister June Freda Powers (Frank).

She is survived by brother Corwin Rotta (Sharilyn) and sister Velma 'Toni' Kozlowski (Gregory), sons; Stephen D. Kozlowski (Pam) of Washington, Kevin Koslow of Scottville, Daniel Koslow (Artis) of Freesoil, David Koslow of Scottville, Patrick Kozlowski (Heather) of Scottville and daughter Abbie Shuler (Robert) of Buchanan, MI. She is also survived by stepchildren Connie Christie (Dan), Lynn Klein and Joe Hoover.

Pat so loved her family and had many grandchildren including Kevin Shuler, Kerri Butts (Taylor), Josh Kozlowski, Kristin Ash (Robert), Heather Kozlowski (Justin), Hope Kozlowski, Amber Esgro , Autumn Koslow, Collin Koslow, Andrea Summer Kozlowski and Adien Skye Kozlowski. Her great grandchildren provided her many smiles and includes Gage Michael Shuler, Nathan Butts, Lillian Lancaster, Wiatt Ash and Tabitha, Emily and Lillian Kozlowski. Pat was especially close to her nieces Jennifer Rice (Ken), Jill Peterson (Michael), Amy Richardson (Dale) and nephew Greg Kozlowski since they were 'doubly related' as her sister Toni married Hillary's brother Greg! She also held special affection for so many more nieces and nephews.

Pat served in the Army from 1952 - 1955 and received an Honorable Discharge. She was an avid member of the American Legion and VFW. She loved music and could rarely accomplish even a simple task without dancing and singing through it. She was well-known for her acerbic wit and her terrific sense of humor. Her most often uttered phrase when she was younger was 'Wait Until Your Father Comes Home' which was an empty threat because she never told on any of her kid's transgressions! Pat was a fantastic cook and often fed so many more than her family - people flocked to her house for her fantastic roast beef, home made bread and pies! She absolutely adored plain vanilla ice cream. She loved to walk at the Ludington State Park with her precious pug 'Susie' and then later with 'Katie. Her strength and resilience carried her entire family through many hard times.

Special thanks to Lakeside Vista and Hospice of Holland. Extra special thanks and love to Lisa Miscovich, who adopted Pat from day one at Lakeside Vista and succeeded in making Pat feel at home. Pat always called her 'My Lisa' and could not go more than a day or two without seeing her.

A memorial Service will be conducted at the American Legion In Ludington, Mi at 318 N. James St at 1 pm est on Sunday, October 16th, 2016. Lunch following at 2pm est at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Mason County Mutts, 2978 N. Darr Rd, Scottville, MI 49454. (231.794.2757). Pat was an avid animal lover and would love to know she could still make a difference!
