Alvin Louis Madsen age 82, of Manistee, Michigan, passed away March 31, 2016 at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility.
Alvin was born July 28, 1933 in Muskegon to the late Earl and Agnes (Jarka) Madsen. He graduated from Manistee High School in 1951. He served in the US Navy from 1951- 1955. On October 29, 1953, he married Audrey Mix in Manistee. Alvin was employed at PCA as a Millwright for 40 years- retiring on July 28, 1995.
Alvin loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, wood carving, painting, going to the beach and being with his wife.
Survivors include his wife Audrey and 15 children; Amy (Kerry) Gavigan, Debra (Steven) Johnson, Chris (Kathy) Madsen, Kathy (Doug Thomas) Latoski, Andrew (Dawn) Madsen, Rachel (John) Wittlieff, Elizabeth (Joshua) Schafer, Eric (Lynn) Madsen, David (Nicole) Madsen, Nicole (James) Johnson, Thomas (Michelle Frechette) Madsen, Monica (Dave) Latoski, Matthew (Suzy) Madsen, Hans (Jeri) Madsen and Abigail (Patrick) Cudney. Also surviving are 33 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and special friends John and Sharon Skiera and family.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Agnes Madsen, brothers; Joseph and Charles Madsen, infant daughters Rebecca and Lisa Madsen, son-in-law Leroy Latoski, In-Laws Arnold and Agnes Mix, nephew Gary Madsen and a niece, Merri Madsen.
Services for Alvin will be held Saturday, April 9, 2016 at the Oak Grove Funeral Home & Cremation Centr in Manistee with visitation from 3:00pm-5:00pm, followed by the service at 5:00pm.
Memorial contributions in Alvin’s name can be made to the Manistee County Medical Care Facility or Homeward Bound Animal Shelter.
