Frances (Sobanski) Hayes, age 100 went to her Heavenly Father on February 9, 2016. Frances was surrounded by her family at her home during her rapid decline in health.

She was born June 17, 1915 in Painesdale, MI to John and Stella Sobanski she moved to Ludington, Amber Township at the age of four. Frances graduated from Star School in Amber Township. She married Rockwell (Rocky) Hayes at St. Stanislaus Church in Ludington on November 16, 1940. He preceded her in death on August 15, 1971.

Frances loved her family, she enjoyed preparing large family meals, tending her many flower gardens, traveling and her faith.

Frances is survived by one sister, Jean Genter; three sons, Roger (Cheryl) Hayes, Steven (Sandra) Hayes and Walter (Molly) Hayes; 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Stella Sobanski; brothers, Edward, Leo, Charles and Frank; sister, Wanda and an infant son, Rockwell John Hayes on December 16, 1942.

She will be missed by special friends Tim, Kelli, and Gary Smith.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions may be made to the St. Simons Food Pantry.

Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. Simon’s Catholic Church of Ludington with celebrant Father Wayne Wheeler. Burial will take place in the spring at Pere Marquette Catholic Cemetery in Ludington.
