Wayne Leon Overla, Sr., age 85 of Manistee, passed away on Thursday July 17, 2025, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.

He was born on May 3, 1940, in Bear Lake, son of the late Earl and Waneta (Dorn) Overla. Wayne served in the United States Navy in the Beachmaster Unit 2.

Wayne married Sally Helminiak on September 29, 1967, in Manistee. He worked at Morton Salt Company for over 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion and was an avid sports fan and proud grandpa.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Sally Overla of Manistee; son Wayne (Stephanie) Overla, Jr.; grandchildren, Travis Fitch, Brynn Fitch, Violet Overla and Eli Overla; siblings, Patricia (Jim) Faubert, LaRaine (Larry) Duchon, Nancy (Evert) Overla, Jimmie (Cindy) Overla, Ken (Connie) Overla, Joni Markiewicz, Shari (Bryann) Groenwald and Debra Overla; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who felt like family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Russell Overla, Gary "Jack" Overla and Sue Burden; and nephew, Randall Flater.

Funeral services for Wayne will be held 11:00AM on Monday July 21, 2025, at Oak Grove Funeral Home in Manistee with Pastor Joseph Hilyard. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10:00AM until time of service. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Manistee.
