Wayne George Janicki, age 84 of Manistee, passed away on Friday October 27, 2023, surrounded by his family at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
He was born on February 22, 1939, in Manistee, Michigan, the son of the late George and Eleanore (Mayrand) Janicki. Wayne proudly served his country in the United States Navy on the USS Midway CVA-41 until he was honorably discharged in 1963.
On October 10, 1964, Wayne married Betty Maue at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Onekama, Michigan. They shared 59 wonderful years together filled with love and happiness.
Wayne was a supervisor at Morton Chemical until he retired in 1999.
He was a life member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion.
Wayne enjoyed spending time with family and friends, attending events supporting his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, traveling, woodworking, making projects with deer antlers, and spending time at the cottage.
Surviving Wayne is his wife, Betty Janicki; daughter Jennifer (Patrick) Ikens; sons Wayne M. (Tori Patterson) Janicki and John (Rachelle) Janicki; grandchildren Stephanie Lloyd, Jarred (Adam Anderson) Janicki, Hannah (Jacob) Graczyk, Garin Janicki, Jamison Janicki, and Mea Ikens; great-grandchildren Jaden Sherwood and Evan Sherwood; brother Dan (Sharon) Janicki; brothers-in-law James L. Maue and Earl Maue; sisters-in-law Bea (Art) Wendt and Phyllis (Jim) Armstrong; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents George and Eleanore, Wayne was preceded in death by his brother James Janicki, father-in-law and mother-in-law James H. and Effa Maue, sisters-in-law Mel Janicki, RoseAnn Maue, and Sherry Rutowski, and brother-in-law Dennis Rutowski.
A private family graveside service will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Onekama with Father Ruben officiating.
