Toney Lee Bailey II was born in Muskegon, Michigan, on March 20, 1988, to Freda Bailey and Toney Lee Bailey. Toney was also welcomed by brothers from a previous marriage, Davie and Joseph Jones. His early years were spent running around Muskegon with his best friends Mike Lihan and Erik Borgeson. He graduated from Calvary Christian Schools and went on to earn an Associate's Degree in Culinary Arts from Baker College.
From 2005 to 2010, he worked at Portage Lake Covenant Bible Camp as a member of the Students Working in Ministry (SWIM) team, kitchen staff, lifeguard, counselor, SWIM team director, and year-round intern. After working at camp, Toney stayed in the Manistee area and was employed as a sous chef at The Glenwood and a team leader at Haworth Inc. Throughout the years, he could be spotted tooling around town in sporty cars such as a red Sunfire, a cream Mini Cooper, an orange Jeep, and a blue Subaru.
He married Carly Kaminski on May 18, 2013, and from this union, two children were born, Oscar and Evelyn. Most recently, Toney was employed by the Michigan Department of Corrections as a Correctional Officer at Oaks Correctional Facility.
Toney died suddenly on July 2, 2025. He will be remembered for his love of Seinfeld, movies, anime, and cooking. His legacy lives on in the faces of his children. His mother, brothers, aunts & uncles in Muskegon also survive. He was preceded in death by his father, and special grandparents; Clora Taylor, Pauline Bailey, and Nezzie & Robert Jones.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 12th at 10:00 a.m. at Portage Lake Covenant Bible Camp in Onekama with former camp director, Dave Nesburg, officiating. A lunch will be provided on site following the service, thanks to the generosity of The Tabernacle Church. Both the service and lunch are open to those who knew Toney.
