Obituary

Thomas S. Blair made his journey home to rest in peace with the Lord on Sunday, August 15, 2021
Tom was born on February 28, 1944, in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of Mildred and Gerald Blair. Tom graduated from Flint Southwestern High School in 1962 and Ferris State College with a degree as a Computer Programmer Analyst.
Tom married the love of his life, Marianne, on August 10, 1968, in Grand Rapids and they shared 53 wonderful years together. He accepted a position at General Motors/EDS retiring in 1999 then continued to work for Genesee County before retiring in 2008. After retiring from Genesee County, Tom and Marianne retired to Manistee.
Tom was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Tom served his country with pride in the Army during the Vietnam War.
Tom was a competitive golfer, especially with family, granddaughters, and friends. He achieved his #1 bucket list at age 70 by traveling with his son to Scotland, playing at St. Andrews and other courses. Tom was a card wizard, a master bridge player, volunteered at Munson Hospital Manistee Healthcare and Lions Club for several years. He was a member of the Manistee Elks Lodge #250 and Manistee United Methodist Church. Tom loved spending time at 5th Avenue beach with his beach buddies. Tom and Marianne enjoyed 20 years of summers on Case Island, Fenton, Michigan. Although Alzheimer's made life increasingly confusing, Tom always had a smile on his face.
Henry David Thoreau once said, "And not, when I came to die, to discover I had not lived." Thomas Blair lived a deliberate life of meaning, full of love and happiness. His memory will live on and be celebrated by his family and friends who love him dearly.
Tom is survived by his best friend and wife, Marianne, their children Renee' (Steve) Cass and Jason (Dena) Blair; his beloved granddaughters Savannah (Madison), Kennedy, Cameryn and great-granddaughter Gabriella Monee' Rye; his brothers Robert (Deborah) and Daniel (Sandy).
He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald, his mother, Mildred, and his sister, Patricia.
