Thaddeus "Ted" Kubanek, of Manistee, MI, went peacefully to his Lord's side on May 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at home at the age of 92.
Ted was born to Frank John and Anna Kathryn (Mazur) Kubanek on July 24, 1931, in Manistee, MI. He
graduated from St. Joseph's High School. He was a proud veteran serving in the U.S. Army. Ted worked various jobs including landscaping before working at PCA as a mechanic until his retirement. He was a member of United Steelworkers, SOAR, and American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and
traveling with Marcella throughout the states. Ted could often be seen outside tinkering on things in his beautiful yard (which he was well known for), chatting with passersby.
Ted is survived by the love of his life of almost 46 years, Marcella Kubanek; his siblings Phyllis Krol of Muskegon, Joan (Don) Tetzlaff of Anchorage, Alaska, Tom (Karen) Kubanek of Manistee, and Shirley (Eric) Schwing of Springfield, IL.
He also leaves behind his children: Judy (Todd) Brossard of Mead, OK; Lisa (Dan) Hamilton of Plano, TX; Kevin (Kelly) Kubanek of Holland, MI. Ted considered himself blessed by his blended family children: Edwinna/Peaches (Patrick) Gilbert of Texas, Marie (Jake) Klinglesmith, and Michelle New. Ted leaves behind many beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mary Ann Andersen, his daughter Jill Estilow, and stepdaughter Selina New-Whitaker.
Military honors will be rendered by the Manistee United Veterans Council Honor Guard on Tuesday June 18, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Oak Grove Cemetery in Manistee.
