Steven "Steve" W. Hamilton, age 73 of Manistee passed away peacefully on Monday January 29, 2024, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Steve was born on August 5, 1950, in Holt, MI, son of the late Jack and Norma (Walton) Hamilton. He graduated from Holt High School in 1968. He has lived in Manistee since 1997, when he retired from General Motors in Lansing, MI, after 30 years.
He was a charter boat captain on Lake Michigan in Manistee for over 30 years. He owned the boat First Class and loved chartering with his many clients over the years. Steve was also a guide on the Manistee River for many years as well.
In 1976 Steve met his future wife Pam Bellingar, whom he has been married to for over 40 years. Along with his wife, they loved their dogs. They have had 9 dogs over the years. He leaves behind Sammy and Buddy.
Steve has fished his entire life and loved the water and catching all species of fish. He was a member of the Michigan Charter Boat Association and an active member of the Manistee County Sport Fishing Association. Steve loved fishing in the Tight Lines for Troops Fishing Tournaments.
Steve is survived by his wife, Pam Hamilton; son, Charles Hamilton; daughter, Chris Cary; brother, Michael Hamilton; and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and his mother and father-in-law, Robert and Edythe Bellingar.
Per Steve's wishes, cremation has taken place, and no memorial service will be held at this time. Memorial contributions in memory of Steve may be directed to either Homeward Bound Animal Shelter, 736 Paws Trail, Manistee, MI 49660 or Tight Lines for Troops, P.O. Box 274, Manistee, MI 49660.
