Shawn (Flannigan) Mechaney, age 56 of Manistee, passed away on Saturday July 23, 2022, in the comfort of her home.
Shawn was born on June 6, 1966, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of Garry Flannigan and Judith Nedeau. She graduated from Grand Rapids Community College with her Associates Degree and then also graduated from Grand Valley State University with her Bachelor's Degree. She was a teacher for about 10 years at Grand Rapids Public Schools and Creston High School.
She was an Elder member of the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians.
She enjoyed golfing, reading, and being in the outdoors. Shawn loved spending time with her loved ones whenever she could.
Shawn is survived by her mother Judith (Jim) Nedeau; sons Ryan (Kaylee) Mechaney, Garet Mechaney; grandson Oakley Mechaney; brother Errol Palmer; sister Angela Christie Martin; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Garry.
A Celebration of Life for Shawn will be held on Sunday August 7, 2022, from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the Aki Community Center, 2953 Shaw Be Quo-Ung, Manistee, MI 49660. A luncheon will follow.
