Ruth Emily Zupin, age 86 of Brethren died Wednesday morning October 14, 2026 at Medilodge of Grand Traverse County with her daughter Letha at her bedside.

She was born on May 14, 1940 in Manistee, Michigan the daughter of the late August D. & Louise (Eble) Kruse. She was a graduate of Manistee High School. On September 12, 1959 she married Wilbur L. Zupin at the United Methodist Church in Manistee. He preceded her in death on March 3, 2019.

Ruth was employed by the Onekama Schools as a bus driver until her retirement in 2008. She also was a ticket taker at the school’s athletic events. She also worked alongside her husband in the family’s businesses and at Memorial Hospital in Onekama.

Ruth was a First Responder for Onekama Fire & Rescue, a member of the Manistee County Sheriff’s Department Auxiliary, formerly very active in 4H, and a former member of the Manistee United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her children; Wayne (Pam) Zupin, Cindy Ferguson, Gretchen Shubitowski, and Letha (Scott) Harnick, 13 Grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, siblings; William & Robert Kruse, a sister-in-law; Mary Zuchowski, as well many other family & friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son; Daniel Zupin, and her siblings; Barbara Harry, Gordon Kruse, Donald Kruse, August Kruse, Jr., Jeannie Reed, Lois Kruse, Darlene Kruse, and Esther Turk.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday October 21, 2026 at 7:00 PM at the the Oak Grove Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manistee with Pastor Joe Wave officiating, The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until time of service
