Russell James Morris, 76, passed away on August 13, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his loved ones. Russell was born on February 26, 1945 in Green Township, Indiana, the son of the late Gus and Emma Jane (Simonton) Morris.
After graduating from Walkerton High School in 1963, Russell went on to serve in the National Guard for a couple of years. After the National Guard, he worked as a mechanical engineer at Bendix's/Honeywell until he retired in 1999.
He was a strong supporter of the National Rifle Association.
Russell enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, horseback riding, shooting guns, and being at the farm. He loved working on repair and remodel projects on his home. He was an excellent cook. Back in the day, Russell liked to volunteer at Walkerton Fire Department for local fire and rescue. Above all else, Russell loved spending time with his kids and grandkids.
Russell will be dearly missed by his wife, Gail Lamorandier-Morris; his children Jamie (Jeff) Fryar and Sean (Audrey) Morris; his grandchildren Jacob and Joshua Fryar, and Connor, Ethan, Tyler, and Mason Morris; his sister Janette (Jim) Gygi; and many other family and friends.
Besides for his parents, Russell is preceded in death by his numerous siblings.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 11:00AM at Hillside Cemetery in Plainwell, MI.
Memorial donations can be made to Homeward Bound in honor of Russell and his family.
