It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a devoted family man, avid rider, and passionate animal lover. He lived life with the throttle wide open, always happiest when he was on the move, outdoors, or supporting the people he loved most.

Russel Ray “Rusty” Manke, age 48 of Manistee died Monday, September 21, 2026 at Munson Healthcare Manistee Hospital.

He was born on March 5, 1978 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of the late Raymond Manke & the late Joanne (Pomeroy) Gates. He attended Manistee High School. On February 17, 2026 he married Brittany Marsh in Tampa, Florida.

Rusty was owner/operator of AQC (Affordable Quality Construction) in Manistee for 20+ Years. He attended the Tabernacle Church in Manistee.

An enthusiast of all things classic and powerful, he could often be found cruising down the open road behind the wheel of his beloved classic car or feeling the freedom of the wind while riding his Harley-Davidson.

Above all else, his family was his greatest pride, and he was their biggest fan. You could always count on finding him in the stands, cheering louder than anyone else. He rarely missed a moment to support his children, whether he was attending Chauncey’s football and soccer games, watching Amiyah run Track, and Finny on the wrestling mat, or rooting for Parker at the softball field.

When he wasn’t at a game or on the road, he found peace and joy on Manke Farm. Alongside Brittany, he dedicated his time to caring for his animals, a reflection of his kind heart and hard-working spirit. His presence on the farm, at the games, and in our hearts will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

He is survived by his wife Brittany Manke, children; Chauncy, Parker, Amiyah, & Finny, his siblings; Matt & Brittan Manke & nieces Kira & Zailyn, Rylee Guillen & nephew Miquel, Jacob Marsh & nieces Penelope & Savana & nephews Brayden & Carter, and Kelly Gates, his step-father; Michael Gates, in-laws; Deanna Marsh & Doe Kata, grandma; Donna Gates, grandparents-in-law; Jay & Sharon Marsh & Justine Mustaffa, and special aunt & uncle Rick & Mary Rodriquez, special friends; Trevor Johnson, Gini Pelton, Cory Gillette, Cliff & Kat Buck, & Casey Raatz, as well as by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, & friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 25, 2025 at 12:00 Noon at the Oak Grove Funeral Home in Manistee. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until time of service.
