Born July 29, 1936, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Roger was the son of the late Elroy and Fern (Stark) Schultz. He graduated from Wauwatosa High School in 1954 and went on to attend the University of Wisconsin in Madison.

Roger proudly served as an artilleryman in the United States Army in the years between Korea and Vietnam.
On July 1, 1983, Roger married Jane S. Dzemske in Arvada, Colorado. They shared 41 loving years together.

Roger was a big sports fan, enthusiastically attending UW and Packer Football games. He truly appreciated the outdoors, spending summers sailing and boating and winters in Florida biking and beach walking. Roger adored planning family ski trips to Colorado, and he loved exploring the United States with his loving wife Jane on their many trips in their motorhome.

Roger enjoyed being a part of his local Rotary Clubs and really getting to know his community. His love of the lakes showed in his membership and involvement in Pine Lake Yacht Club and Milwaukee Yacht Club. After moving up north to Long Lake near Frankfort, MI, he continued to seek out things he loved by joining Crystal Lake Yacht Club and brought his zest for meeting people by working at Crystal Mountain and Arcadia Bluffs during his retirement. When Roger & Jane moved to Manistee, he continued giving his time serving as Treasurer of the Lighthouse Landing Condo Association.
