Robert (Bob) Eugene Rishel, aged 76, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home with his family by his side on December 25, 2024. Born May 16, 1948, in Indiana, Pennsylvania, Bob was preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Helen; his siblings William, Alvin Jr., and Dolores; and daughters Elaine and Renee. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, with whom he shared 43 dedicated years; children Lorraine (Tim), Aimee, and Danielle (Charles); cherished nephew Alvin III (Amanda); grandchildren Ashley, Chelsey, Christopher, Alex, Piper, Olivia, Melanie, and Andrew; grand niece and nephew Aubrey and Connor; siblings Irene (Bryan) and Anthony (Dianne); great grandchildren, many more nieces and nephews, and cherished friends.
Always a man of his word, Bob was a valued member of the community and will be missed dearly by those whose hearts he touched and those he served. A devote patriot, beloved family man, and friend, Bob left a positive mark on the world, accomplishing many amazing things in his life. Through the years he wore many hats. Bob was a skilled welder, fitter, fabricator, businessman, and public servant, having served through the years as a Deputy with the Wayne County Sheriff Department, Chairman of the Manistee County Road Commission, Chairman of the Stronach Township Planning Commission, and Chairman for Manistee County Planning Commission/Brownfield Authority.
Aside from work, Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, and watching movies. He was especially fond of talking politics, going to the casino, watching horse races, and being at home with his beloved wife and dogs.
A Celebration of Life will be held February 28th at Stronach Township Hall from 10 am until 6 pm.
