Richard Mark Patterson, born August 18, 1970, in Cadillac, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2024, at the University of Michigan Medical Center after an extensive battle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Rick- known affectionately as "Rickman", "Ricker", or "Schnibby"- was a man of many hobbies, including rock collecting, everything football, driving remote controlled cars, flying kites, listening to sports radio, and pestering the family dog- Riley (whom he called Poops). Rick was a true man of the eighties from his taste in movies and music to his permed and mulleted senior photo, Class of 1988, which hangs in the halls of Manistee Middle High School. He received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Oakland University in 1993.
He married Margaret Elizabeth Nank on August 14, 1993, in Clinton Township and they shared 30 years together.
Rick was employed by the Little River Casino Resort as an IT specialist.
Rick will be missed by his wife, Maggie Patterson; children Bethany (Jake) Zavsza of Farmington Hills, Alan Patterson of Manistee, and Sylis Patterson (formerly Hope) of Manistee; grandchild Marshall Zavsza; parents Mark Patterson and Beatrice (Jim) Sibley; sister Tori (Wayne Janicki) Patterson; stepsiblings; many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends, and coworkers at Little River Casino Resort.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Helen and Maurice Patterson and Evelyn and Roy Rosted.
A Memorial Service will be held for Rick on May 18, 2024, at Manistee First Congregational Church at 11:00am with Pastor Liz Hoy officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00am until the time of service at 11:00am. A meal and time of fellowship will follow.
