Phyllis Lorane Thorsen, 83, of Manistee, passed away, Sunday, December 21, 2025. She was born February 26, 1942, in Manistee, the daughter of Laverne Marshall “Chub” and Jeanette Mildred (Scott) Thorsen.

Phyllis graduated from Manistee High School in 1960. After graduating, she spent many years working alongside family until eventually becoming the owner of Scotland Yard Vacation Cottages, in Manistee. Phyllis enjoyed spending her days alongside the beautiful Lake Michigan and the annual class of 1960 gatherings her and her sister would have at the cottages.

While her presence may be gone, her impact lives on in the kindness shown to others and the joy found in the ordinary moments of life. Phyllis will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Phyllis is survived by: her nephews, Richard Scott Brye and Todd (MyTien) Brye; niece, Tracilyn (Markus) Hertel; great-nieces and nephews, Mitchell Hertel, Zachary Hertel, Nicole Brye, and Cordell Brye; and many other family and friends.

Phyllis was preceded in death by: her parents, Laverne and Jeanette Thorsen; and twin sister, Lenore Peggy Brye.

Memorial services will be conducted at 10:30 AM, Friday, June 26, 2026, at Manistee First Congregational Church, 412 4th Street, Manistee, MI 49660, with a luncheon following the service at the church.
