Obituary

Pauline Jessie Cornell, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away on August 9, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on January 18, 1944, in Frankfurt Michigan, Pauline was the beloved daughter of the late Rufus and Edra (Gray) Putney. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Rodney, Donna, Bill, Nancy and Lester and now joins her late husband, Duane Cornell, with whom she shared many joyful years until his passing in 2019.

Pauline's life was a tapestry of love, humor, and devotion. She is survived by her children, Denise Mitchell and Dennis Helferich, along with his wife Dede Helferich, who will forever cherish the memories and values she imparted. Her legacy continues to thrive in her grandchildren, Maria Mitchell-Kipila and her husband Jason Kipila, Joeseh Mitchell and his wife Tracy Satterfield, Rachel Mitchell, and Jessie Mitchell. Pauline's great-grandchildren, Damien Maczka, Andi Kipila, and Levi Mitchell, will grow up with stories of her love and humor, stories that will forever be woven into the fabric of their lives.

A woman of many talents, Pauline's career path was as diverse as her interests. She worked in various capacities, including at a credit union and a restaurant, and she was well known for her skill in catering, and was an award winning Mary Kay saleswoman. Her skills in the kitchen were renowned, particularly her Midwestern salad recipes.

Pauline was a dedicated member of her church, as well as a longstanding participant in both the Eagles Club and the Red Hatters, where her presence was always felt and appreciated. Her commitment to community service and fellowship was a testament to her generous spirit.

A true gardener at heart, Pauline's green thumb was evident in the beauty of her gardens, which were admired by all who visited. Her ability to make things grow was matched only by her ability to make people laugh. Known for her quick wit and candid remarks, Pauline's stories and jokes were a fixture at family gatherings and community events, providing joy and laughter to everyone around her.

In accordance with her wishes, a private ceremony will be held to celebrate Pauline's life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests prayers be made in her honor.

Pauline Jessie Cornell's life was a testament to love, laughter, and resilience. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known her. As she reunites with her beloved Duane, may she find eternal peace and happiness in his arms.
