Obituary

Patricia Lynn Loeffler (Patty), age 68, of Rancho Mirage, California, entered her heavenly home on September 3, 2025, in Manistee, Michigan, after a courageous two-year battle with metastatic renal cell carcinoma. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her husband, children, and siblings, while spending the summer in northern Michigan at her son Michael's lake house, a place she cherished for its Great Lakes beauty, beach walks, and time spent with family.

Patty was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on December 12, 1956, to John Marvin and Maxine Mae Dykstra. She spent her early years in Grand Rapids before moving to Cadillac, where she graduated from Cadillac High School. She later earned her associate's degree and became a dental hygienist, but her greatest joy and calling in life was being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

A woman of deep faith, Patty was a child of the Covenant who lived each day with steadfast devotion to her Lord. She loved sharing the good news of Jesus Christ and trusted fully in His promise of grace. Her faith shaped her life, her marriage, and her relationships, and it was her greatest comfort through her illness.

Even in her final years, Patty spoke often of how God had answered every one of her prayers and how fulfilled her life had been. Most notably, she prayed for one more summer in Michigan to walk the beaches she loved, to collect rocks, and to enjoy the simple beauty of God's creation with her family. In His goodness, God granted her that gift this past summer, which became a deeply spiritual milestone and source of profound peace and gratitude for her during her illness.

In April 2004, Patty married the love of her life, Mark Edward Loeffler on the picturesque Empire Polo Fields of Coachella, CA. Their marriage was marked by unshakable love, partnership, and joy in the simple blessings of faith and family. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, hospitality, and community. In Rancho Mirage, Patty was an active member of Mission Hills Country Club, where she enjoyed golfing with a close group of friends.

To know Patty was to know joy. Her radiant smile and unmistakable, contagious laugh could fill a room and lift the spirits of all around her. She delighted in simple pleasures—gathering with loved ones, walking hand-in-hand with her husband, and beachcombing with her grandchildren in search of rocks. She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.

Patty is survived by her beloved husband, Mark Loeffler; her children, Jacqueline (Robert) Wright of Menifee, CA, and Michael (Anita) Thompson of Chattanooga, TN; her stepchildren, Chris (Abby) Loeffler of Washington DC, and Kelsi (Eric) Ashburn of Chattanooga, TN; her grandchildren, Conner Wright, Warren and Maxine Thompson, and Barrett, Briggs, Radford, and Jones Ashburn; her siblings, Douglas (Patti) Dykstra and Barbara (Michael) Post, MD; and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Marvin and Maxine Mae Dykstra.

Patty's life was a testimony of faith, love, and joy. Her legacy lives on in her family, her laughter, and her unwavering trust in God's promises. The Lord was faithful to the very end, granting her the desires of her heart (Psalm 37:4).

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 (time to be determined) at Southwest Church (44-175 Washington St, Indian Wells, CA 92210).

Memorial contributions may be given to the City of Hope in Patty's name.
