Obituary

Nora J Hunt, age 88 of Manistee fully entered the presence of the Lord on Friday January 5th, 2024.
She was born in 1935 to Adolph and Clara (Snyder) Swanson. Nora attended Bear Lake High School where she graduated in 1953. Two years later, she married the love of her life George Hunt. Nora and George spent 67 years together in the very home they built and raised their family in.
Her first job was for Kennedy Elementary School as their adored secretary where she remained for 29 years and would describe her love for each and every student. The "best years" of her life she would often say.
Included in their many interests, Nora and George loved exploring the US in their motorhome, capturing photos to share with friends and family. She took a great delight in sewing and being a part of the quilters' guild where she and several ladies would enjoy tour bus trips to quilting expos. She loved picnics by the beach, 4th of July BBQ's, bird watching, (cardinals being her favorite) and every year putting together the most beautiful Christmas for her family. It was an exceptionally special Christmas if she made her fudge.

In addition to her family, Nora's faith was an essential part of her life where she dedicated much of her time to her church and community. Later in years, Nora and George opened their home to the United Methodist Bible Study and she always made sure to have homemade treats for everyone. Nora took joy in helping others and her kindness was known by many. She will be remembered as a guiding light, a role model and a leader in her communities. May she live on through us.

She is survived by her children Diane (Cap) Ross of Littlestown, PA, Tim Hunt of Ft. Pierce FL, Randy (Chris) Hunt of Manistee, Brother Floyd Swanson, Sister Joyce (Bubs) Thompson, Brother in law Bruce (Kathy) Hunt of Coldwater, MI, Sister in laws Dorothy and Pat Swanson, Bev Peralta and Grandchildren Kevin Ross, Mallory (Andrew) Kenny, Cassandra Gibbs, Joseph Hunt, Andrea Hunt 11 great grandchildren, special niece Jeri Lynn Madsen, best friend Carol Johnson and several nieces and nephews.
