Mieczyslaw (Mike) Zaleski, 93, of Bear Lake MI died Thursday, October 28, 2021, at Manistee County Medical Care Facility. He was born in 1927 in Chicago, the son of Walter and Mary (Zelenska) Zaleski.
Mike was a veteran of the US Army. On November 27, 1948 he married Naomi L. Alfred. They lived in Chicago in the early years when their boys were young then moved back home to be near family in Bear Lake. Mike worked for Frankfort Manufacturing for over 30 years until he retired.
Mike always planted and enjoyed working in his large garden and sharing its' bounty, splitting wood, going to yard sales on the hunt for a bargain or treasure and visiting with his large family. He was especially appreciative of his nephew/neighbors Mark (Kathy) Thompson and boys for all of the help they gave him in his elder years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife Naomi, son Donald, Sister Jennie Harris, Brothers, Edward , Henry and Wally Zaleski, Brother-in-laws Edwin Alfred, Ernie, Ray and Tom Swanson, Elmer Harris, John Konicki, Phil Peralta, Sister-in-laws Doris Zaleski, Marie Konicki and Pam Swanson.
He is survived by his son Mitchell Zaleski, Daughter-in Laws Marybeth Eckhout and Waunetta Zaleski, Grandson Curtis (Katelyn) Zaleski , Granddaughter Leane (Leo) Bugo, Great- grandchildren LilyAnna and Lucas Zaleski, Brother-in-law Floyd Swanson, Sister-in-laws Nora (George) Hunt, Joyce (Bubs) Thompson, Dorothy and Pat Swanson, Bev Peralta ,and several nieces and nephews.
The family is very grateful for the staff at Manistee County MCF that provided excellent care the final years of his life.
Military graveside honors will be held on Thursday November 4, 2021 at 11:00AM at Pleasanton Township Cemetery in Bear Lake. The family has entrusted the Oak Grove Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Manistee with arrangements.
