Michael Corey's Obituary
Michael John Corey, age 45 of Manistee, died Tuesday morning November 28, 2023, peacefully at home following a short bout with cancer.
He was born on April 5, 1978, in Reed City, the son of John D. and Linda K. (VanderWerf) Corey. His father preceded him in death on June 28, 2022.
Michael, a jack-of-all-trades, was a construction laborer, traveling all around the United States and Puerto Rico. He was a member of the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians.
He also was an outdoor enthusiast, who enjoyed spending time at the beach, hiking, & exploring with his daughters. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and reading.
Survivors include his two daughters; Shawna & Lillian Corey; his mother Linda Kay Corey; his sister Jennifer (Nate) Breen; two nephews; two nieces; aunts & uncles Duane VanderWerf, Bruce (Julie Oliver) VanderWerf, Kelly (Mark) Nadolski, Leonard (Karlin) Corey, & Norma Hinkle; as well as by many cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Bridgeton Baptist Church, 6031 West 104th Street, Fremont, MI 49412. A luncheon will follow.
