Merle Ann Stewart (Wentworth), known affectionately as Sue, was born on July 10, 1949, in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of the late Harold A. & Elia J. (Kilgore) Wentworth and passed away on February 7, 2025, at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility in Manistee, Michigan. She was a devoted wife to Michael Stewart for 49 years until his passing on February 24, 2021. Sue was a loving mother to her only daughter Leann (Jon) Stewart and a cherished grandmother to Chelsea Stewart and BreAnna Medacco, & great grandmother to Brandi, Allison, & Duane (Mikey).
Sue led a vibrant life filled with hobbies. She loved searching for treasures at garage sales, tending to her beautiful flowers, and enjoying the outdoors through walks & bike rides. A connoisseur of comfort food, her favorites include a warm cinnamon roll with a hot cup of coffee. She often enjoyed watching TV shows like Antique Roadshow, Let's Make a Deal, and any movie that included Sam Elliot.
After Sue retired from working at Orchard Market in Free Soil, Michigan, which she loved that job and the people around her, she had a unique routine that included waking up at 4:00 AM for coffee, demonstrating her remarkable energy and zest for life. She took great pride in her childhood accomplishment of walking 52 Sundays to earn her own Bible, a story she loved to share with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Sue found joy in planning activities with her family and created lasting memories through her unwavering love and devotion. Her favorite place was where she grew up in Summerfield, Michigan, where she cherished many moments with loved ones.
She will always be remembered for her warmth, laughter, and the countless ways she touched the lives of those around her.
She is also survived by brothers; Will (Lindy) Wentworth, Tom Wentworth, Robert (Bob) Wentworth, Jay (Maxine) Hoover, & Mary Dixon as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by brothers; Jerry Wentworth, Lloyd Hoover, Raymond Hoover, Louie (Shorty) Hoover, and sisters; Lucy Epoch, Wilma Grandowicz, & Stella May Hoover.
Arrangements were made by the Oak Grove Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Manistee, Michigan.
