Meghan Rose Evans (born Meghan Rose Gruber) was born August 20, 1998 to John (Bob) and Sheila Gruber in Manistee, Michigan.
Meghan grew up in the Manistee/Ludington area, with a brief stint in Alaska, until the family moved to Ottumwa, Iowa in 2011. Meghan graduated from Ottumwa High School in 2016.
While her teen years were tough on her, Meghan was resilient; just weeks after losing her father John in 2014, Meghan underwent open-heart surgery. While health problems continued to plague her throughout her short life, she pushed aside her own personal struggles for those she loved. She would find treasures great and small to share with those she cared about, sit with them through any season of their lives, laugh with them, cry with them, or sit in the silence when there was nothing to be said...which may be hard to believe as those who knew Meghan knew it was a rarity for her to keep her mouth shut!
As those who were close to Meghan would agree, she wasn't always a ray of sunshine and she didn't light up every room she walked into, but she was fiercely loyal. If you were part of her tribe, she'd give everything she had for you and somehow, someway, give more. Meghan's love language was painting and crafts, and she loved to give these to those she loved.
Meghan was united in marriage to Anthony Lee Evans Jr on August 26, 2023. Anthony was truly Meghan's other half. She finally found the one that could put up with her sassiness, sarcasm, laugh with her (and occasionally at her); someone who cherished her and loved her. He was truly the perfect partner for her.
Meghan really shone when it came to her love for animals. In addition to the ones in her own home, she worked alongside Repo's Rescues to make sure that she helped as many animals as possible experience a loving and safe home.
Meghan is survived by her husband, Anthony Evans Jr and their fur babies Henry, Oliver, and Cashew; her siblings Jeremy Johnson, Jennifer (Mike) Blair, and John (Lina) Gruber; sister-In-law Daisy Evans and Samantha (Dave) Regan. She also leaves behind her nieces and nephews Jordan, Brittany, Alex, Courtni, Shae, MacKenzie, Jackson, Lily, Harper, James, Bentley, Katherine, Alexander, and Darrin. Also left to honor her memory are close friends Raina, Aubry, Jessica, and Brittany and special friends Don and Jayne Hansen of Iowa, and Natalia, Kate, Natalie, Ashlee, Kelsee, Jessica, Darci, and Heather in Michigan.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 14, 2026, at Oak Grove Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manistee. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until time of services at the funeral home.
Oak Grove Funeral Home & Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
