Matthew Murray Day, age 41 of Manistee passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2023, in Mason County, Michigan.

Matt was born on June 28, 1981, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Robin Murray Day and Deborah (Kamaloski) Platt. He attended Holy Redeemer School in Flint and Manistee Area Public Schools, graduating in 1999.
He had been employed as Head Chef at the River Walk Restaurant in Elk Rapids as well as various restaurants in Manistee, Traverse City, & Beulah during his career.

Matt enjoyed rock hunting with his children, Madison and Kamden, especially at Magoon Creek. Under the name Get Your Rocks on Jewelry by Matt Day he designed and created one-of-a-kind bracelets, rings and necklaces using natural stone and wood beads. Matt had a passion for music of all genres, wrote music and played the trombone, keyboard, and guitar. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, and watching the beautiful sunsets over Lake Michigan. Matt was the master of bad dad jokes and fishing tales.

Survivors include his children Madison Murray Day and Kamden Duane Day whom he loved dearly and their mother Brittney Hall of Interlochen, his parents; Robin & Jeanne Day of Birch Run and Debbi & Rick Platt of Baldwin, his brother; Christopher R. Day of Mayfield, his grandfather; David Bajtka, aunts and uncles; Helen (Anderson) Kamaloski, Lori (Bajtka) Sniegowski, Melissa (Bajtka) & William Jewell, Timothy & Kim Day, Sandra & Lee Burleson, Jennifer Luckay, & Leslie (Cindy Alexander) Day, numerous cousins, great aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents; Theodore L. Kamaloski and Nancy (Gamache) Bajtka, paternal grandparents; Dr. John Murray Day and Marion Day, aunt & uncle; Susan (Bajtka) & Robert W. Bernatche, and uncles; Richard Kamaloski & Mark Sniegowski.

A Celebration of Life will take place Monday, April 10, 2023, beginning at 11:00 AM at the Oak Grove Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Manistee. A time of sharing will begin at 12:00 Noon followed by a luncheon.
