Obituary

Marlene Ann Houseworth, age 71 of Manistee, died Thursday, June 16, 2022.
Marlene was born on February 8, 1951, in Reed City, the daughter of the late Samuel J. & Julia (Komar) Darknell. She resided in Baldwin and attended Baldwin Public Schools. She held down several jobs, and eventually moved to Manistee to near her sister.
Despite her illness of over 40 years, Marlene touched so many lives with her endless stories, her sense of humor, and her quick smile. She was incapable of holding a grudge. She loved shopping, going out to eat, and spending time with family.
Her family is eternally grateful to her guardian Sue Verheek and her long list of caregivers including Jackie, Nicole, Carla, Amanda, Angela, and so many others.
Marlene is survived by her brother; Steve Darknell of Ludington, Darlene (DuWayne) Fuller of Manistee, sister-in-law; Kay Darknell of Baldwin, and several nieces and nephews including Robert (Penny) Cornett and Carrie (Kevin) Shively.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers; William Darknell of Rexton, David Darknell of Ishpeming, and George Darknell of Baldwin, niece; Teresa McGuire, and nephews; Timothy Darknell and Tracy Darknell.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday July 24, 2022 at 2:00 PM at 1777 Red Apple Road, Manistee, MI 49660. A luncheon and a time of fellowship and sharing will follow.
