Marilyn K. Anderson, 94, of Onekama and Grand Haven, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Green Acres Retirement Home, in Manistee. She was born January 21, 1932, in Ludington, the daughter of Harry and Elsie (Wissner) Conway.
Marilyn graduated from Manistee High School in 1949. She served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-53, where she met her first husband, Robert L. Brown, Jr. They lived in Simi Valley, California, and had three children: Pamela (Phil) Jacobs, Cynthia (Steve) Pons, and Jerry (Bonnie) Brown.
Marilyn moved back to Michigan with her children and married Harold Andrew "Andy" Anderson in 1964. She worked as a secretary at Onekama Consolidated School and later as Postmaster in the Onekama Post Office. Following her retirement, she worked part time at the Townhall Texaco EZ Mart. She was a member of the Onekama Trinity Lutheran Church and the Jr. Clio Club. She and Andy enjoyed many card-playing evenings with friends, dining "over town" and chatting at Tom's Sinclair station. She was an avid Bingo player and enjoyed ceramics, knitting, reading, making puzzles, and playing her piano. She cared for Andy throughout his extended illness, and he preceded her in death in 1994.
In 1996, she united with James "Jim" Leet and moved to Grand Haven. Jim and Marilyn enjoyed many friends and activities centered around St. Paul United Church of Christ, taking care of their cat Miki, and filling numerous albums with photos of their many travels. Marilyn returned to her Onekama home in 2019 due to an extended illness, eventually moving to Green Acres of Manistee. Jim preceded Marilyn in death in 2023.
Marilyn is survived by: her children listed above; sister-in-law, Carol Conway; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; grandchildren, Greg (Courtney) Jacobs, Douglas (Briana) Jacobs, Ryan (Ellie) Brown, Danny (Kiley) Brown, Jaylee (Jesse) Kelley, and Emily (Corey) Henson; great- grandchildren, Logan, Grace, and Charles Jacobs, Owen Brown, Oliver Kelley, and Andrew Brown; She is also survived by, Jim's children, Duane Leet, Dennis (Lynn) Leet, and Jan (Hugo) Mulacek; and Special friend, Helen Mathieu.
In addition to those mentioned elsewhere, Marilyn is preceded in death by: an infant son, Larry Allen Brown; her brothers, Kenneth Conway and Harry "Bud" Conway; mother-in-law, Isabelle (Keillor) Anderson; in-laws, John and Evelyn (Anderson) Nienhuis and Viola (Jacobi) and Darwin Anderson; and Special friend, Mary Kuipers.
The family would like to thank caregivers Jessica Beaudrie, Jennifer Reed, Laurinda Falko, Jean Krause, and Sarah Picklesimer for providing countless, enriching activities and adventurous outings for Marilyn. The family is forever indebted to Hospice of Michigan's, Laura Fortier, Marsha Anderson, and Chris Amor, and the incredible Green Acres staff. Over the past five years they were quite simply our heroes, providing a secure, nurturing, and loving place that became home!
Memorial services for Marilyn will be conducted at 12:00 PM, Monday, February 16, 2026, at Oak Grove Funeral Home, 309 W. Parkdale Avenue, Manistee, MI 49660, with Reverend Dennis Rahn presiding. Visitation is being held from 10:00 AM until time of service and a luncheon will follow services at the funeral home.
