Marie was born Feb. 19, 1925, in St. Joseph, MI. Moved to her beach house as a young girl and graduated from Manistee High School in 1944. After graduation, she began her 30-year career as a seamstress sewing pockets on the uniforms of the soldiers in the war. Her second career and her most favorite, was working for the Manistee Intermediate School system as an aide. She loved the young adults and children she cared for and kept in touch with coworkers even after her retirement in 1991.
A talented seamstress, she made clothes and coats for herself and her daughters. She enjoyed knitting afghans and slippers, she crocheted beautiful doilies, tablecloths and snowflakes for all the family. She loved watching her granddaughters in school events, going to garage sales, traveling and spending time in Florida with her daughters. Most of all, she enjoyed dancing at the various venues around the area.
Marie was a member of Divine Mercy Parish (Guardian Angels Church), Ladies VFW Auxiliary #4499 and a lifetime member of Benevolent Order of Elks Lodge #250.
Survivors include her daughters Pamela (Kenneth) Schulz and Paula (Karen Wells) Sagala. Granddaughters and their children: Alissa (Steven) Chmielewski & Logan, Hunter, and Mason; Aimee Swidorski & Quinn and Tate; and Amanda (Austin) Bratcher Yelvington & Mila Bratcher.
