Margaret Ann "Peggy" Bass, age 76 of Bear Lake, went to be with her Lord Monday, August 2, 2021. Peggy passed peacefully in her sleep after enjoying a day of fun and laughter with her family.
She was born in Muskegon, Michigan on March 28, 1945 the daughter of the late George W. & Helen (Wareham) Schafer and from the age of four months, grew up on a farm just outside of Bear Lake. Peggy married John W, Bass on July 19, 1986 at the Arcadia United Methodist Church. John preceded her in death on March 7, 2004.
In her younger years Peggy loved camping, boating, fishing and water skiing. Other interests were having dinner parties for friends and family, designing cards, scrapbooking, gardening, reading, road trips and loving on her kitties. She loved nature and all God's creatures and enjoyed drawing closer to God through the Bible studies in which she participated. She had a real talent for home decorating and loved keeping a warm and welcoming home. Peggy loved and truly enjoyed people and during the past few years had a great time getting together with "all the cousins" for lunches.
She loved her many friends and especially loved her family; her son John W, (Jennifer) Bass, Jr. of Chandler, AZ, daughter Brenda (Brian) Suzuki of Anaheim, CA, two grandchildren, Katelyn (Nathan) Jump and John Robert (Sarah) Bass of San Tan Valley, AZ and three great-grandchildren, Haeghan, Hadlee and Abraham Jose; her siblings, David (Wanda) Schafer and Sally King (David Reed) all of Bear Lake, as well as nieces & nephews Kim (Gregg) Brown, Michelle (John) Arlt, David (Lori) Bacon, Dennis (Christy) Bacon, Heather (Scott) DeRidder, Angela Eisenlohr, Charity Manke, April (Jeremy) Gawenda, Michelle (Aaron) Seiser, and Shane (Diane) Reed. Peggy's recent years were full and rich with the love of her youngest family members, her great nieces and nephews. Two of Peg's siblings preceded her in death; George Schafer of Bear Lake and Patricia Bacon of Manistee.
A Celebration of Peggy's life will take place at the Bear Lake United Methodist Church on Monday August 9th at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Final interment will be in the Pleasanton Township Cemetery. Those wanting to make a memorial contribution are asked to consider Homeward Bound Animal Shelter in Manistee.
