Marcella Mary Chmielewski, age 58, of Manistee, MI passed away Wednesday January 31, 2024, at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor MI.

She was born on June 24, 1965, in Great Falls, MT, daughter of the late James and Ellen (Martin) Leckrone.

Marcy attended Columbia River High School in Vancouver, WA, graduating with the class of 1983. She continued her education throughout her naval career and completed a Master of Business Administration Healthcare Management from the University of Phoenix in 2009.

Marcy enlisted in the United States Navy in December 1987 and served proudly until February 2013 as a Master Chief Hospital Corpsman (SW/AW/EXW). Throughout her career she traveled the world and served in a multitude of leadership positions.

She married David S. Chmielewski on 16 June 2000 at the Chapel on Naval Submarine base Bangor WA

She was a Faithful member of Saint Raphael Catholic Church Copemish, MI.

Marcy, had many god given natural talents. She loved gardening, decorating, cooking, and construction. A vigorous reader, she had her nose in books constantly. Travel was her passion, she was always open for new adventures.

Marcy is survived by her loving husband David Chmielewski of Manistee, cherished son Zachary (Krista) Chmielewski of Enola PA, Nicholas (Montana) Chmielewski of Indianola WA, and Stanley Chmielewski of Poulsbo WA, twin sister/very best friend; Marie Leckrone of Manistee MI, 3 grandchildren; Adi, Sochil, and Nicholas, her brother and sister in-laws; Debbie and Scott Tiefenthal, Steven and Alissa Chmielewski, Mary and Rick Cabot, Sherri and Paul Wehrmeister. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceded in death by her parents James and Ellen (Martin) Leckrone.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, February 12, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Saint Joseph Catholic Church (Divine Mercy Parish) in Manistee MI with Father Ruben Munoz celebrant. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery also in Manistee. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday morning, one hour prior to the funeral mass.
