Obituary

Lloyd "Chips" Davidson age 98 of Irons, MI died on Wednesday December 15, 2021, at Munson Healthcare Manistee Hospital.

Lloyd was born on November 15, 1923, in Detroit, MI the son of the late Oscar and Clara (Petty) Davidson.

Lloyd was a WWII Navy Veteran serving in the Aleutian Islands from 1943 until 1946. On March 11, 1950, he married the love of his life Colleen Bothwell who survives him.

Lloyd was a member of Irons Union Church.

Lloyd was an Engineer for Davis Tool, Ford Motor Company and Michigan Tool. He also was a contractor and wood worker, hence the name "Chips". He loved nature, hand feeding the birds, painting, storytelling and was quick with a song or toast to life. A never ending inquisitive and inventive mind, he was always improving on designs and making manufacturing suggestions (sorry Al Gore, but Chips "invented" the internet long before you!). He never met a person who stayed a stranger and always found a connection or common ground with people he was talking to.

Along with his wife Colleen, Lloyd is survived by their four sons and family: Eric, his wife Julia and daughter Mara; Kevin, his daughters Sarah (Scott) Curtis, their children Adam and Kate of Grand Haven; Kate (Adam) Weber, their children Claire, Ellie and Oliver of Wilmet, IL; Kirk, his children Morgan and Ryan and their mother Janice; and Todd. Lloyd is also survived by Colleen's sister Vicki and Ray Pickle, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lloyd was preceded in death by Oscar and Petty Davidson, Oda and Joe Bruns, Petty and Alex Gran, Jack Bothwell, Geraldine and Ted Newman, Jackie and Harry Kirn, Mike Wrysch and Brenda Davidson.

A private celebration of life will take place in the future.
