Karol Garlets Quesenberry, 83, of Wellston, Michigan, passed away at home on September 9, 2026. She was born March 3, 1943, in Howe, Indiana, to John and Halcyon (McKenzie) Garlets.

Karol proudly served in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1968 as a Data Processing Technician, working with some of the early computer technology of the era. She was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.

 After spending approximately 25 years in the Washington, D.C. area, where she worked at the Pentagon Naval Dept. and IRS, Karol returned to northern Michigan in 1989. She owned and operated Garlets Corners in Wellston for more than two decades, carrying on a longtime family tradition.

 A lifelong bowler, Karol bowled in leagues both in the Washington, D.C. area and in Michigan, at one time participating in three local leagues a week. She attended an impressive 34 consecutive national bowling tournaments, with bowling giving her the opportunity to travel throughout the country. Her love of seeing new places continued throughout her life, including trips across the United States and abroad.

 She enjoyed embroidery and sewing and made clothing for 18-inch dolls, which she sold at craft shows and through her Etsy shop. More than any list of accomplishments, however, Karol will be remembered for the way she treated people. She was warm, kind, welcoming and fun, with a smile and sense of humor that made people enjoy being around her. She made lasting friendships throughout every chapter of her life.

 Karol is survived by her daughter, Amy (Quesenberry) Woods; her stepdaughter, Jamie (Kevin) Armstrong, along with Jamie and Kevin’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her siblings, Jane Leveque, Karen Bosman and Nathan Garlets; her sister-in-law, Marilyn Garlets; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

 She was preceded in death by her longtime partner, Franklin Mobley; her parents, John and Halcyon (McKenzie) Garlets; her sister, Jean Luhtanen; and her brother, John Milton Garlets.

 A Celebration of Life will be held September 26th from 12-3 pm at South Branch Twp. Fire Dept. Cookies and Coffee will be served.
