Obituary

Judith "Judy" Darlene Lyman, age 77 of Kaleva, went home to be with the Lord on Monday April 24, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones.

Judy was born on August 6, 1945, in Frankfort, Michigan, the daughter of the late Kenneth Smith and Mary (Blood) Saul. She graduated from Bear Lake High School, Class of 1963. Judy married the love of her life, Robert D. Lyman, on August 22, 1964, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Onekama. They shared 49 wonderful years together filled with lots of laughter and love before Robert's passing on December 12, 2013.

For many years Judy worked as a dietary aid at Manistee County Medical Care Facility before finally retiring.
She was a member of St. Joseph of Onekama Catholic Church.

Judy enjoyed puzzles, sudoku, farming, gardening, traveling, playing Pinochle and of course, the slots and a tall whiskey and water. She loved cooking for anybody and everybody; you never left her house hungry. Above all else, Judy loved spending time with her friends and more importantly her family, especially her grandbabies.

Judy is survived by her children Wonda (Greg) Kinnan of Kaleva, Heidi (Bob) Brammer of Coldwater, MI, and Bobby (Amy) Lyman of Kaleva; her grandchildren Tara, Brittney, Madeline, Avery, and Alphon; great-grandchildren Aubree and Max; siblings MaryLou Hullinger, Evelyn (Gordon) Bonney, and Bonnie (Dennis) Anderson; her sister-in-law Pat Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Judy was also preceded in death by her brothers Richard Smith, Raymond Smith, and Leslie Smith; her brother-in-law Bill Hullinger, Albert (MaryEllen) Lyman, Alphon (Irene) Lyman, and Virgil (Boots) Lyman; and her sisters-in-law Evelyn (Roger) Greve and Marceline Dufon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 1, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Onekama with Rev. Father Ruben Munoz, celebrant. A luncheon will be held at the Onekama Lions Club Pavilion after Mass. Judy will be laid to rest at the Old School House Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at Oak Grove Funeral Home on Sunday April 30, 2023, from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM and again on Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church from 10:00 AM until the time of the mass. Relatives and friends will pray the Rosary on Sunday at 4:30 PM.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be given in Judy's memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
