Joyce Ann (McGrew) Fischer, of Onekama, left us last week on Friday December 10, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.
Joyce met John "Jack" H. Fischer in college in 1952. They were married in 1954 and have spent 67.5 years of a wonderful marriage with all of their family. Joyce was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Joyce and Jack's dream was to live on Portage Lake between Portage Point Inn and the channel. This dream came true in 1981 when they purchased the John Dexter residence at the corner of Portage Point Drive and 4th Street. In 1989 they remodeled the home and retired there. This continued the wonderful life for Joyce and Jack which they enjoyed with their five children and all of their families.
Their family enjoyed skiing, boating, golfing, swimming, fishing, beach fires as well as many other enjoyable activities. They couldn't have asked for a better life. Joyce enjoyed swimming and water ballet on her own. She was the lead synchronized swimmer in college performances.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Jack; her children Kathy (Michael Bretting) Fischer, John (Jeni Berndt) Fischer, Jim Fischer, Cherie (Mark) McMullin, and Roy (Karen) Fischer; eleven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Joyce will be celebrated on Saturday April 23, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Onekama. A reception will follow.
Any donations on behalf of Joyce can be made to Hospice of Michigan, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Onekama, or to a place of your choosing.
