Obituary

Joyce Elaine Johnson, age 90, of Marion, died September 14, 2026.

She was born April 8, 1936, in Caldwell Township, Missaukee County, Michigan, the daughter of John E. and Ruby (Reynnels) Root. She graduated from Manton Rural Agriculture High School in 1954. On June 6, 1959, Joyce married William M. Johnson at the First Christian Church in Manton.

Joyce was a loving wife and mother of five and was primarily a homemaker. She worked at Kickaway Factory in Cadillac for seven years (1954-1962). She enjoyed doing embroidery work, collecting antique dishes (especially Cherry Blossoms), working with flowers, taking care of her grandkids, and she loved the darn farm.

She is survived by her husband, William M. Johnson of Marion, MI; children, Mrs. Alan Ealy of Blacksburg, Virginia, Mark A. Johnson of Marion, MI, Roberta J. (James) Cox of Grand Blanc, MI, James G. (Lisa) Johnson of Marian, MI, and John W. (Becky) Johnson of Marion, MI; sisters, Linda Bainbridge of Vogel Center, MI, and Ruthann (Harold) Dodde of Falmouth, MI; in-laws, Robert (Kathy) Johnson of Canby, OR, and Edna Owens of Cedar Springs. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers, Harry, Dallas, Ray, Wayne, Glenn, Rex; brothers-in-law, James Johnson and Robert Bainbridge.

Cremation has taken place at Oak Grove Cemetery, in Manistee, and no services are scheduled. Final interment will be in Middle Branch Township Cemetery, in Marion.

Memorial contributions in memory of Joyce may be directed to Manton and Marion Public Schools Scholarship Fund.

The family entrusted funeral arrangements to Oak Grove Home & Cremation Service in Manistee.
