Obituary

Joslyn "Jay" Jerome Davey, age 80, of Manistee, passed away suddenly after a short illness on January 18, 2026.

Jay was born on September 22, 1945, in Hastings, Michigan, the son of Rev. Seth A. Davey and Audrey (Bills) Davey.

On December 31, 2009, Jay married Carol Klenow (McKinley). Together they shared 20 years of love, companionship, and life's adventures. In addition to his loving wife Carol, Jay is survived by his stepson, William (Rebecca) McKinley, and his grandchildren, Evan and Emma McKinley, all of Ludington, Michigan.

Jay is also survived by: his siblings, Byron (Debra) Davey of Belding, Michigan, Ruth (Eben) Smith of Cadillac, Michigan, and Seth A. Davey II of Traverse City, Michigan; sister-in-law, Diane Davey of Lakeland, Florida; many special in-laws; numerous nieces and nephews whom he thought the world of; and many dear friends. He is also survived by his beloved "little buddy," Baxter.

Jay graduated from Godwin Heights High School in 1963. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1970. After his military service, Jay attended WSCC and went on to build a long career installing telecommunications systems with various companies. His work took him all across the United States, and he retired in 2006.

Jay enjoyed woodworking, especially making gifts for family and friends, traveling, and spending time with those he loved. He was well known for his many stories and his gift for sharing adventures from a life well lived.

He was a member of the Manistee Moose Lodge #1128 and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).
Jay was preceded in death by: his parents, Rev. Seth A. Davey and Audrey Davey-Handy; his stepfather, Adam Handy; his brother, Phillip P. Davey; and stepson, Steven McKinley II.

In accordance with Jay's wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held at this time.
