Joseph Anson Sanborn, Jr., age 84 of Manistee, passed away on Sunday April 21, 2024, in the comfort of his home.
Born on October 29, 1939, in Carson City, Michigan, Joseph was the son of the late Joseph Anson and Emeline Francis (Urie) Sanborn. He graduated from Sexton High School and went on to obtain an associate degree from Montcalm Community College in 1975. On January 4, 1958, he married Beverly Dawn Johns in Lansing, Michigan, and they shared 66 years together.
Joseph proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1959 until he was honorably discharged in 1963.
He was a maintenance engineer at the Oaks Correctional Facility in Manistee.
Joseph was a member of the DAV.
A lifetime mechanic, Joseph enjoyed fishing, hunting for mushrooms, and bird watching.
Joseph is survived by his wife Beverly, three children, many grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his brothers, sisters, daughter Lynn Marie Oar, and sons Donald Calvin Brown and Gordon Dean Sanborn.
