John Richard Booker, Jr., age 64, passed away unexpectedly at home on October 6, 2019.
John was born January 2, 1955 in Highland Park, MI to the late John and Shirley (Marshall) Booker. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Vietnam War. During his service he earned the National Defense Service Medal and Marksman M16. On February 12, 1999 John married Alison in Waterford, MI.
John enjoyed canoeing, rock hunting, flying kites on the beach with his grandkids, building birdhouses and lighthouses and watching his grandkids play hockey. He also loved getting tattoos and taking walks with his dogs and sitting around the bonfire.
Survivors include his wife Alison, children; Amanda Adair, Jazmyn Booker & Jacob Booker, Grandsons Aiden & Owen Adair, siblings; Steve (Arlene) Booker, Mike (Sandy) Booker, Joe (Karen) Booker, Mary (Kevin ) Sutton and Tracy (Rob) Neirynck as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Gathering for John will be held Saturday, October 12, 2019 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 Pm at the Oak Grove Funeral Home in Manistee. A luncheon will follow at 5:30 PM at the VFW Post 4499 in Filer City, MI. Memorials in John's name can be directed to the Homeward Bound Animal Shelter.
