Obituary

Jimmy Earl Babcock, age 84 of Manistee, Michigan died Friday, August 14, 2026 at Medilodge of Grand Traverse County in Traverse City.

He was born on March 20, 1942 in Battle Creek, Michigan the son of the late Hugh Babcock & Marjorie Morgan. He was a 1961 graduate of Wellington High School in Wellington, Ohio. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp serving from 1961-1965 in the Navy Fleet Force in Vietnam, Guam, Japan, the Philippines, & Spain. He married Caralynn L. Freer on July 5, 1964 in Marshall, Michigan.

Jimmy was an over the road truck driver for seventeen years and retired from Evart Products in May of 2010 after a twenty year career.

He was a member of Bridges Church of Manistee, the UAW, the VFW, and had been Senior Vice Commander of DAV Post #43. Jimmy enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, scuba diving, snowmobiling, jigsaw puzzles, & wordbook puzzles.

Survivors include his wife Caralynn Babcock, daughters; Rebecca Babcock (Ron Dartt) of Traverse City, Mara Evenstar (Russell Jones) of Ypsilanti, Marcel Beck of Hastings, & Teresa (James) Skiver of Manton, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great- great grandchildren, a brother Lesleigh (Peggy) Freer of Tower, MN, sister-in-law & brother-in-law; Deborah & David Daughters of Rapid City, SD, as well as by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother; Vivalda Freer and his sister & brother-in-law; Vera & Francis Peck.

Funeral will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Bridges Church in Manistee The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until time of service. Military Honors will follow. Burial will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan at a later date,
