Jerome B. Chick, age 93, of Manistee, died early Saturday morning April 30, 2022, at home surrounded by his wife and family.
He was born February 2, 1929, in Manistee, Michigan, the son of the late Joseph and Martha (Majkszak) Chick. He attended Washington School, St. Joseph School, and Manistee High School. He was a Korean War Veteran.
Jerome married Barbara Kucharski at St. Joseph Catholic Church on April 24, 1954. They just had their 68th wedding anniversary.
He was a member of St. Mary's of Mount Carmel Shrine.
Jerome worked at Bassarab Century Boat and A.D. Joslin Manufacturing Co. He retired in 1993 after 33 years of working.
He enjoyed hunting, ice fishing, camping and in his younger years yard maintenance. Jerome was a fan of the Detroit Lions.
Jerome is survived by his wife Barbara; three sons Joseph (Rosmary), Brian (Mary Lynn), and Ronald (Laurie); daughter Christine (Thomas) Thieman; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Jerome was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Karen; brother and sister-in-law Marvin (Margurite) Chick, and infant granddaughter Angela Chick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday May 5, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Oak Grove Funeral Home in Manistee with Father Basil Lek officiating. Family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of mass.
Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Manistee.
Memorial donations may be made in Jerome's name to St. Jude's Children Hospital or to Homeward Bound Animal Shelter in Manistee.
