Jean Eleanor
Leatherman
Feb 14, 1953 — Sep 11, 2026
Manistee, Michigan
Jean (Christensen) Leatherman, 73 of Manistee, was blessed with eternal peace on September 11, 2026. While her family and friends will miss her dearly, they find comfort in knowing she is carefree and reunited with family.
Jean was born on February 14, 1953 to her parents Lawrence "Larry" Christensen and Eleanor (Nowak) Christensen. She was a graduate of Manistee High School Class of 1971. She had been employed by Century Boat and Four Winns.
Jean was a proud woman of the Manistee Moose Lodge #1128 as she carried on the family tradition of membership, volunteering, and making memories at the lodge. She was a life member of the Moose Lodge and a lifelong supporter. Jean hosted and sang karaoke, volunteered with meals, supported the Special Olympics, and much more with her Moose family and friends. She was also a member of the American Legion of Manistee.
Jean enjoyed the simple pleasures of life such as conversations and laughs with those she loved, watching nature, listening to music, and singing.
Jean is survived by her brother, Allen Christensen (Mary); nieces, Dawn (Mike) Sekuris, Pamela (Gary) Niesen, Erin Christensen; nephews, Daryl Galvas, Ronald Kaminski, Michael (Sarah) Kaminski; great nieces and nephews; extended family; and her dear friends who were so important to her.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, sister Lois (Christensen) Kaminski, brother-in-law Ronald Kaminski, and infant brother Lawrence Christensen.
She will always be in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to be in her circle for they felt the love of a proud sister, an aunt who treated her nieces and nephews as though they were her own, and a cherished friend. She will forever be our Valentine birthday girl.
Graveside Services for Jean will be held Monday, October 5, 2026 at 12:00 Noon at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Manistee with Father James Bearss officiating. A Memorial Luncheon will follow at the Manistee Moose Lodge at 1010 Robinson Street.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jean’s name may be directed to the Manistee Moose Lodge #1128.
