James L. Wellington, age 74 of Irons, Michigan died Wednesday, October4, 2023 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Michigan,

He was born on March 14, 1949 in Detroit, MI the son of the late Merle D. & Marie Louise (LeRoy) Wellington. He was a 1969 graduate of Warren Woods High School and attended Macomb Community College. On June 6, 1990 he married Jane E. Blow in Toledo, Ohio.

James was employed as a tool & die maker at Ford Motor Company retiring on March 1, 2012 after 22 ½ years of employment.

He enjoyed golf, hunting, camping, and spending time with family and friends as well as watching golf and football. He was always willing to stop at flea markets and garage sales and browse them with Jane.

Survivors include his wife; Jane E. Wellington of Irons, MI, son: James D. (Elizabeth) Wellington of St. Clair Shores, MI, and daughters; Kathleen (Jason) Fuller of Sterling Heights, MI and Kelly Graham of Fraser, MI.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister; Lee Wellington.

A Celebration of Life for James L. Wellington will be held on Thursday October 12, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Oak Grove Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 309 Parkdale Avenue in Manistee. A formal time of sharing will follow at 3:00 PM.

Memorials in James' name may be directed to the Humane Society of Monroe County or to Homeward Bound Animal Shelter in Manistee, MI.
