James Douglas Schoedel, age 26 of Manistee, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2023.

He was born on November 4, 1996, in Manistee and was the son of Charles F. and Katherine L. (Dunlap) Schoedel. He attended Bear Lake High School.

James was a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteer as well as volunteering for various other organizations. He loved cars and animals, and especially enjoyed family get-togethers.

Survivors include his parents Charles & Katherine Schoedel; his siblings Jessica Putney, Amanda Taylor, Cali Kouba, Chuck Schoedel, and Tobi Purple; his biological mother PJ Kenyon, and her daughter Katrina; maternal grandmother Judy Dunlap; aunts & uncles John and Kathy Schoedel, Vic Bradford, and Len Dunlap, as well as nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Charles & Patricia Schoedel; maternal grandfather John Dunlap; and uncle Bill Schoedel.

Memorial Services for James will be held Sunday, June 11, 2023, at 3:00 PM at the Oak Grove Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Manistee with Pastor Jacob Sherry officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
