Obituary

Jack Lindy Fickies of Irons, Michigan, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 4, 2026,

following a courageous six-year battle with service-connected lung cancer. Born in Owosso,

Michigan, on October 17, 1945, Jack graduated from Owosso High School in 1963. Every

High School reunion held, he was there catching up with good friends. He was drafted into

the U.S. Army in December 1969, playing baseball for the Army team in Europe before

deploying to Vietnam as a highly decorated paratrooper with the 173rd Airborne, working in

Military Intelligence. On May 19, 1979.


Jack married his soulmate, Karen. They moved permanently to Irons in 1990, where Jack

founded Realty First in Wellston, successfully selling real estate and making lifelong friends

until retiring in 2020. A passionate fan of Michigan State sports and golf, Jack lived life to

the fullest on his own terms with a fiercely independent attitude.


Jack is survived by his wife, Karen; sister, Sandra Harris; children, Lisa Hartman, Michael

Fickies, Jeff Fickies, Karen Bradley (Paul), and Holly Langworthy (Michael); Grandchildren,

Gabriel, Lauren, Morgan and Mason, Lauren, Aybri; three great-grandchildren; and his dog,

Peter. 


He will be interred with Military Honors at Lakeview Cemetery in Irons at a later date.
