Helen A. Salacina, age 91, of Manistee, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday January 17, 2024.
She was born on December 23, 1932, in Holton, MI, daughter of the late Oscar and Borghild (Sommervold) Kolstad. Helen attended Fremont Schools, graduating with the class of 1950.
Helen married Charles Athur Salacina on August 25, 1950, in Holton, MI at the Lutheran Church. He preceded Helen in death on February 8, 2000. Helen was a devoted housewife and mother who enjoyed homemaking, was an avid reader, and traveling to New Mexico to visit family.
Helen is survived by her three daughters, Karen (Dave) Dobrowolski, Sheri (Rod) Foss and Beverly (Michael) Weglarz; son, David (Candace) Salacina; grandchildren, Matthew Dobrowolski, Tanya (Glenn) Shelby, Ryan (Kelly Staley) Foss, Melissa Weglarz, Joshua Weglarz, Lindsey Salacina, Derrick Salacina and Brendan Salacina; great-grandchildren, Sydney and Karlie Shelby, Kyle (Daniela Treviso) Callison, Jasmine (Dettrik) Egger, Lilyann Salacina, Jennica Salacina, Jaymasen Salacina; great-great-grandchildren, Valkyrie and Mazikeen Callison; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lloyd Salacina, Ruby Kuhns and Joy Barton; and many treasured nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Charles; sons, Douglas and Dean Salacina; and sister, Eva Wilcox.
There will be no service at this time, per Helen's wishes, but a celebration of life gathering will be held at a later time. Final interment will take place next to her husband Charles at Newaygo Cemetery.
