Gregory Allen "Gumps" Gamache, age 72 of Manistee, died peacefully Thursday, June 27, 2024, at his home.
He was born on September 10, 1951, in Manistee, the son of the late Vernon L. & Corrinne M. (Scott) Gamache, the youngest of five children. He was a graduate of Manistee High School Class of l969, and then went on to be part of the first graduating class of West Shore Community College in 1971 as a mechanic.
Greg worked for several years at Mowry Buick-Pontiac Car Dealership as a mechanic. He enjoyed spending time with his family traveling all over the United States in his motor home. He also had a love for his fishing boat "Gumps". He was a member of Manistee Elks Lodge #250, which he was Past Exalted Ruler 1978-79.
Survivors include his children Gretchen (Jason) Carrick, Michael Gamache of Manistee, and Corrinne (Collin) Potter of Kaleva; his five grandchildren Jacob Livingston, Samantha & Griffin Carrick, Sutton Gamache, and Rayna Potter; his sisters Laurie "Oodie" (Donald) Kosiboski and Mary "Marzie" Skocelas; his brother Scott (Joan) Gamache; and brother-in-law David Bajtka. Numerous nieces, nephews, and their families also survive.
He was also preceded in death by his sister Nancy Bajtka; sister-in-law Judy Gamache; and brothers-in-law Theodore Kamaloski and Stanley Skocelas, Jr.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 7:00 PM at the Oak Grove Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Manistee with Pastor Liz Hoy officiating, followed by the Elks Memorial Service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until time of service. Burial will be by his parents at Oak Grove Cemetery in Manistee.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Manistee Elks Lodge #250.
