Glen J. Ryan, 91, of Manistee, Michigan passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, with his wife of 71 years by his side.
Anchored in his faith and family, Glen was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. The grandkids called him "Bota" – his friends called him "Blue".
Glen was born in Perry, Michigan in 1934 and attended Perry High School. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957, working in radar with the Nike Air guided defense system. He later trained as an industrial electrician and worked for Oldsmobile for 35 years.
He enjoyed reading about history and traveling to historical places. He loved playing baseball and even tried out for the Detroit Tigers in his 20s. He loved a beautiful sunset, woodworking, and helping family and neighbors build. He volunteered his services as an electrician to countless people, with Habitat for Humanity, and he volunteered at the local hospital.
He enjoyed retirement in both Florida and Manistee. More than anything, Glen loved to read his well-bookmarked Bible. He was a member of the Heritage Baptist Church and served as a deacon for a time.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie; his daughter, Patrice; son, Alan (Kathleen); grandsons, Tyler (Jenny) and Samuel (Rachel); and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 9, 2026, at Heritage Baptist Church, 655 E Parkdale Ave, Manistee, MI 49660, with Pastor Eric Struble presiding. Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM until time of service and a luncheon will follow the service at the church.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Michigan for their incredible support and care.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Tunnels to Towers Foundation or the Heritage Baptist Church.
