Gerald W. "Jerry" Baker, age 76 of Flagstaff, Arizona formerly of Manistee died Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at the Flagstaff Medical Center in Flagstaff, Arizona.

He was born on July 14, 1949 in Manistee, Michigan the son of the late Gerald & Gertrude (Popkowski) Baker. He was a 1967 graduate of Manistee High School. He Also attended North Central Michigan College in Petoskey. He further continued his education, later earning a Masters Degree in English and was a English Professor at Coconino Community College in Flagstaff for 40+ years. He also was the manager of the apartment complex in which he resided.

Jerry loved to garden and bird watch. He loved music and played various instruments. He was kind hearted, and loved the community he lived in, as well as having a group of friends he graduated with that he kept in touch with his entire life.

He is survived by two brothers; Daniel (Marie) Baker and Ronald (Mary) Baker, niece; Crystal Alvesteffer and nephews; David (Renee) Baker & Frank Baker, best friend Quinn Doty, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, & cousins.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers; Phillip & James Baker, nephew; Jeffery Baker, and numerous aunts & uncles.

Graveside Services will be held Monday, May 18, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Manistee with Father James Bearss officiating.
