Frederick W. Mackin, age 84 of Manistee, passed away in the comfort of his home on Thursday August 3, 2023.

He was born on June 17, 1939, in Manistee, Michigan, the sone of the late William and Alfreda (Dugas) Mackin. Frederick graduated from Manistee High School, class of 1957.

Frederick was employed as a foreman at Morton Salt in Manistee for 40 years.

A supporter of Saint Jude Children's Hospital, Frederick was also an avid hunter and gun enthusiast. He enjoyed spending time fixing cars and loved restoring antique furniture.

Frederick is survived by his sister Susan; his children Daniel Mackin of Buckley, MI, Michael Mackin of Manistee, MI, Karen Groenwald of Bear Lake, MI, and David Mackin of Interlochen; as well as a bunch of grandkids who won't hold still long enough to count.

In addition to his parents, Frederick was preceded in death by Joyce (Spoor) Mackin, who he had been married to for many years; his son Jimmy Mackin; and his brother James Mackin.

A Celebration of Life for Frederick will be held on August 26, 2023, at 11:00AM at his home, 1070 E. Parkdale Avenue, Manistee, MI 49660 with his son Michael (Panda) Mackin officiating. A potluck will begin at noon.
